Back to school supply drive set

School just got out for the summer, but local agencies are starting early on the

School just got out for the summer, but local agencies are starting early on the collection of supplies for next school year.

Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa and all Tangipahoa law enforcement agencies have teamed up to collect school supplies for students.

School items being collected include:

Backpacks

Crayons

Notebooks

Pencils

Glue Sticks

Folders

Rulers

Safety Scissors

Hand Sanitizer

Disinfecting Wipes

Kleenex

Monetary donations.

Supplies can be dropped off at the follow locations:

Amite Police Department,101 E. Oak St., Amite

Kentwood Police Department, 308 Ave. G, Kentwood

Hammond Police Department, 120 S. Oak St., Hammond

Independence Police Department, 580 W. 5th St., Independence

Ponchatoula Police Department, 195 N. 6th St., Ponchatoula

Roseland Police Department, 62438 Commercial Drive, Roseland

Tickfaw Police Department, 50081 US-51, Tickfaw

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office – 15475 W. Club Deluxe Road, Hammond, and 313 E. Oak St., Amite.

Crime Stoppers will host a Back to School Bash at Independence Leadership Academy Gym, 221 Tiger Ave., on Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.

School supplies, games, food and safety materials will be distributed.

This is a free event, open to the public.

"Classrooms thrive when communities unite! Help Tangipahoa Parish students by donating supplies," says a press release from Crime Stoppers.

Commemorative Air Force Bayou State Escadrille will begin offering rides in their "MASH"-style helicopter on Saturday, June 17, from 5 to 7:30 p.m, weather permitting.

Rides will then be offered every second Saturday of the month, 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Rides will take place on C M Fagan Drive one mile west of Hammond Square.
